Online classifieds have become so popular that they have practically wiped out the printed version. It’s not surprising really as there are many classified ad sites on the internet today, and believe it or not the industry is still growing. We believe that change is coming to the online classifieds market though, and it’s a change that’s been coming for a long time. In a survey we conducted in our local area a couple weeks ago on consumers opinions about classified sites, we were surprised by some of answers that were given. Here’s a few questions and the results:
What is the worst aspect of the classified sites that you use? Answers:
1. Spam – 58%
2. Poor customer service – 30%
3. Not user friendly – 12%
Which of these should sites improve on? Answers:
1. Have better moderation and customer service – 67%
2. Improve their site to be more user friendly – 33%
In order to resolve problems, website owners may start charging for ad listings and eliminate the free options. If this was to happen, and service was improved as a result, would you be willing to pay to post ads? Answers:
1. Yes – 65%
2. No – 30%
3. I don’t know – 5%
