Walked: August 2021 · Prices checked: October 2026
Beyal Camp is the easy walk from Fairy Meadows: a normal walking track, no steep hike, and a calm place to sit with small lakes around you. If you keep walking for about 40 more minutes, you reach the zero point, the closest view of Nanga Parbat you can get from this side. I walked to both in August 2021, on the second morning of my Fairy Meadows trip. This guide covers the time it takes, what the path is like, what to carry, and why you should be back before sunset.

The walk from Fairy Meadows to Beyal Camp
Beyal Camp is near Fairy Meadows. You can start walking and reach it in about 1.5 hours easily. The path is like a normal walking track, with no hike and no steep sections. After the trek up from Tato, it feels easy. You can just walk and listen to music.
That is very different from the trek from Tato to Fairy Meadows, which takes about 4 hours and is tiring. You can read about it in my Fairy Meadows guide.
At Beyal Camp
It was a sunny day when we reached Beyal Camp, and the whole camp looked beautiful, with clean, green nature all around. You can sit there and enjoy the small lakes. Beyal Camp is for people who do not like crowds and want some peaceful time on their own.
There is a small canteen. Cooked noodles cost PKR 500 today, and they also sell chips like Lay’s and biscuits.
The zero point
If you start walking again from Beyal Camp for about 40 minutes, you reach the end of the track, which is called the zero point. It is the last point you can reach from Fairy Meadows.
At the zero point you can sit and enjoy the closest view of Nanga Parbat. You can see the whole glaciers connected with the mountain. Some people call it the starting point for the Nanga Parbat base camp. I did not go beyond the zero point, so I cannot tell you what is further on.
Be back before sunset
Come back to Fairy Meadows before sunset. It is not safe after dark, and wild animals may be a danger. I have only heard this and I did not see any animals myself, but I would not take the risk.
Carry a torch in case it gets dark before you reach Fairy Meadows.
What to carry
- A water bottle. Carry your own drinking water.
- A small bag with a jacket.
- A torch. This is especially important in case you are late.
Avoid smoking at this height. The oxygen level is low, and you may feel shortness of breath after a cigarette.
When to go
I went in August 2021, and Beyal Camp was not crowded. Fairy Meadows is only open from May to August, so that is your window. In my best time guide you can see how it fits with the other places.
